MS (mild steel) plate weight is calculated from its volume and the standard carbon steel density of 7,850 kg/m³. Use the per-square-metre rate below with your own plate size, or look up the ready weight for the most common standard sheet sizes stocked in the Indian market.
Weight Calculation Formula
Formula: Weight (kg) = Length (m) × Width (m) × Thickness (mm) × 7.85
Example: a 2.5m × 1.25m plate, 10mm thick → 2.5 × 1.25 × 10 × 7.85 = 245.3 kg
